Unaltered Undulations

Langston Alimayu

10.21.2023-12.9.2023

Two years ago I reached out to Langston Alimayu saying I loved their work. I had seen moderately sized canvases covered in swirling swimming lines of color that seemed to drag towards some unseen central point. Unseen because the middle of the paintings were masked out. Unpainted or overpainted I couldn’t totally tell, but they created an uneasy interruption. Langston explained that they represented life saying “sorry bud nope!” by not allowing completion. Well, since then, life has allowed. The paintings in Unaltered Undulations are cosmic in scale and implications with no interruptions and seemingly no endings as wave after wave of color circles within them. A young musician and painter based in LA, Langston also performs under the name “Sweet Lang” around Southern California.
