Press Release

Bass & Reiner Gallery is pleased to present Strata, an exhibition featuring Luca AntonucciIvan Iannoli, and Sean McFarland, and was curated by Chris Grunder. With sculptures, photographs, and mixed media pieces drawn from each artist's most recent bodies of work, Strata represents current considerations on the layered qualities of history, affect, and the built world.

Luca Antonucci is a San Francisco based artist and a founding member of Colpa Press. In his practice, he uses a variety of media including sculpture, photography, and printing processes to look at how objects change meaning over time. His work has been exhibited widely in the Bay Area and abroad including shows at Et. Al, San Francisco; The San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, San Francisco; The Iraqi Embassy, Berlin; PNCA, Portland; and Family Business, NY.

Ivan Iannoli is a San Francisco based artist whose work uses photographic methods to illustrate the role of the image in contemporary life while also questioning what constitutes an image. His work has been included in shows around the country, including Photo LA 2015; Shoshana Wayne Gallery, Los Angeles; PØST Gallery, New York; and SIA Gallery, Sheffield, England. Strata marks Iannoli’s debut show in the Bay Area.

Sean McFarland is an artist currently living in Rochester, New York. His artistic practice addresses the myths and desires formed by landscape imagery, and the ways in which these depictions alter cultural perspectives. His exhibitions have included shows at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; White Columns, New York; and Stephen Wirtz Gallery, San Francisco. His work is in several public and private collections including the Berkeley Art Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of Art Library.
