2016 ART BOOK SHOW

JULY 18 - SEPTEMBER 3

Books are typically used to convey something–information, imagery, stories–but for many artists, the book becomes something else. The books featured in the Art Book Show aim to be things in and of themselves.

Books have long afforded artists opportunities that other formats don’t: the chance to incorporate text natively; to force a rigid order; and to work with multiples in a way that doesn’t diminish importance or value. Artist books take the power and preconceptions of the medium and use them in inventive ways.  The Art Book Show contains a small number of volumes ranging from the hand painted to the xeroxed, stitched to stapled, and tiny to gigantic. The Art Book Show also offers a more active form of participation for viewers where objects can be touched and taken home with ease.

The Art Book Show features custom furniture, made for the exhibition, by local artisan Benjamin Roland Laramie. Bass & Reiner will stock books from a range of local, national, and international artists including: Andréanne Michon, Chris Duncan, David Bayus, Gabriel Edwards, James Sinclair, Jacqueline Norheim, Jesse Siegel, Joanne Easton, Kerry Conlon, Linus Bill, Luca Antonucci, Margot Rada, Maria Guzmán Capron, Matt Gualco, Michael Gaughan, Mitsu Okubo, Nando Alvarez-Perez, Pete Gamlen, Ross Waitman, Sarah Rara, Sean McFarland, and more.
